Professor Bess Ward selected to receive 2012 Procter & Gamble Award

Congratulations to PML Trustee Professor Bess Ward who has been selected to receive the 2012 Procter & Gamble Award in Applied and Environmental Microbiology of the American Society of Microbiology.

As well as being a Trustee of PML, Bess' main role is as Chair of the Department of Geosciences at Princeton University, USA and she is as of now, the newest recipient in a long list of distinguished past awardees since 1977.

The award stands as a recognition of exceptional achievement in research and development in applied (non-clinical) and environmental microbiology. Award winners must be active in current research in areas of relevant fields.

The award will be granted in San Francisco at the next ASM General Meeting in June 2012. Professor Ward commented:

"I was very surprised and greatly honoured to be notified of the award. I am deeply grateful to the colleagues who made it possible."
